Exploration&Production
This project’s primary task was to assess the Enhanced Oil Recovery potential of a Central European oil field and develop exploitation technology to maximize the ultimate recoverable oil and find the way to reach the asset’s long-term profitability.
The project’s design, which is expected to extract millions of barrels of surplus oil, was based on constructing a compositional 3D numerical reservoir simulation model, carried out jointly with partner companies and experts of the field operator company. Integrating the information database from the G&G and engineering field played an essential role in creating the model.
The compositional dynamic model was initialized and validated using commercial reservoir simulation software. A local Service Provider performed the PVT and EOR laboratory tests and numerically modelled the gained dataset.
Based on the matched historical production and pressure data connected to this field, further development directions were identified, including water injection, gas injection, and a combination of these in addition to natural depletion.
The nearly 1-year modelling project was completed to allow the client to plan and prepare the further steps in the field development.
Construction works on EOR utilization, which promises a significant surplus of oil, is currently underway. Based on model development work, this investment worth hundreds of million dollars.
